# kiln dev

> Serve a project locally with hot reload, kept state and streamed browser logs.

## Serve your project

`kiln dev` starts the dev server. It reads `package.json`, `tsconfig.json`, `node_modules` and your npm, yarn or pnpm lockfile — no migration step and no config file to write first.

kiln dev
```

## Hot reload

A change is live 8 ms after you save. Node with Vite takes 800 ms on the same reference project.

Component state is kept across saves, including through a full page reload.

## Browser logs

Console output streams from the browser to your terminal. You debug without leaving the terminal.
