# Install

> Install the Kiln binary on macOS, Linux, Windows or in a container.

## macOS and Linux

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://get.kiln.land/install | sh
```

Installs to `~/.kiln/bin` and adds it to your PATH.

## Windows

```powershell theme={null}
powershell -c "irm https://get.kiln.land/install.ps1 | iex"
```

Ships the same binary. No Visual Studio build tools.

## Docker and CI

```bash theme={null}
docker run --rm -v "$PWD:/app" -w /app ghcr.io/kilnland/kiln kiln install
```

22 MB image. Cold start in the container is 11 ms.

## First run

```bash theme={null}
kiln dev
```
